Stud: Derrick Kindred, Safety

While there were plenty of defensive struggles in this one, the Browns did have some guys stand out. We already looked at Myles Garrett, but there was another defender who made an even bigger impact.

Safety Derrick Kindred got in on the action early as he jumped in front of a pass intended for JuJu Smith-Schuster. That ended the second drive of the day for Pittsburgh and set Cleveland up for their second field goal of the game.

He wasn’t done there. Trailing 14-6 to start the third quarter, the Browns were in danger of seeing the game get away from them on that opening second-half drive. Pittsburgh was at the Cleveland 25 and Kindred forced a fumble by backup running back Stevan Ridley.

Rookie cornerback Denzel Ward picked up the loose ball. They took points off the board and gave life back to their offense in what was still a one-score game. Unfortunately, the Browns did nothing with the ball, which was a huge missed opportunity.

That doesn’t be take away from the fact that Kindred played one of his best games of the season with five tackles, a pass deflection,  and two forced turnovers.

Next. Head scratching ways continue in loss to Steelers. dark

Cleveland has their work cut out for them in Week 9 as they host the Kansas City Chiefs. If they want to score a huge upset win, they’ll need more work from studs like Kindred.
