The Cleveland Browns fired Hue Jackson as head coach and a big part of his issue was never taking the blame for any shortcomings. He still won’t.

Hue Jackson is still as oblivious as ever. For two and a half years as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns, he made egregious errors and was a horrific 3-36-1 while in charge. Don’t worry though, none of this was ever the fault of Hue Jackson. Just ask him.

Jackson was always quick to point out anyone to make a mistake. It didn’t matter if it was another staff member, player, or front office executive — no one was free from the path of Hue’s ‘Bus of Blame.’ And we all knew he would be no different even after finally losing his last supporter — Jimmy Haslam.

And we finally got to hear from Jackson as he spoke about his tenure with the Browns that came to an end this week. And in typical Hue-fashion, everyone had a hand in the mess, except him.

More from Dawg Pound Daily

One of the first nuggets Hue drops is that the offense was better with him calling the plays in 2017 — with worse talent:

"“You look at our numbers with me calling the offense with less talent. Our numbers this year were the same or worse than our numbers last year with better players on offense.” — Jackson said via Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com"

Not only does he praise himself and disrespect Todd Haley as well, but he, of course, throws his players under the bus. He’s also wrong.

The Browns were last in points in 2017 with Jackson calling the plays and second to last in 2016. In fact, they were better in 2018 in every category other than yards where they ranked 24th in both 2017 and 2018. So basically, Haley improved everything and Jackson thinks it was worse.

From there, he makes sure to blame former general manager Sashi Brown. Jackson says he wanted Carson Wentz in 2016, but that wasn’t their plan. He claims they were out to acquire picks, but then reminds us the people in charge of those picks failed him.

"“But the plan was never to take a quarterback that year. It was all about trading back to get picks. If you’re doing that you’ve got to pick the right players.” — Jackson said via Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com"

The good news is Hue has still saved the Browns and fans will continue to owe him. The best nugget he left us with is that he was the one who recommended John Dorsey for the job.

"“What people don’t know is that I recommended John Dorsey as the guy for the job because of his skillset in talent acquisition.” — Jackson said via Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com"

So now we have GM scout to add to the list of things Hue Jackson can do. He is a quarterback whisperer, an offensive genius, and a great CEO. The only thing he can’t do anymore is coach the Browns.

Jackson is also set to be on ESPN’s First Take this Friday. Surely, the bus will be making stops all season long. This could be entertaining.
