Hue Jackson caused the Cleveland Browns to lose many games, and he looks to continue that trend as he rejoins the Cincinnati Bengals staff

If there is one thing that Hue Jackson can do, it’s coach a game that ends with the Cleveland Browns losing. During his two and a half seasons as their head coach, Jackson orchestrated just three wins and had 36 losses and a tie.

That stretch of futility pushed Jackson way down the charts as he has the second-worst coaching record in the history of the NFL. That didn’t stop him from finding a new job just a couple of weeks after being fired by the Browns.

On Monday, word broke that Jackson will rejoin the Cincinnati Bengals staff, where he will play the Browns two times this season — trying to add a couple more losses to their record.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network broke the news of Jackson teaming back up with Bengals head coach Hue Jackson, but it was the reactions to the signing that made the move fun. With Lewis not naming what Jackson’s role will be, Field Yates of ESPN decided to take a guess, and his idea makes a lot of sense.

Yates is right that Jackson was the only person to make Baker Mayfield look bad at quarterback — and really he did it to the whole Browns team.

In all seriousness, Cincinnati did fire defensive coordinator Teryl Austin this week after giving up more 50 points to the New Orleans Saints. Lewis decided to take over the defense, but Jackson could help on that end.

Last time Jackson was fired as a head coach, Lewis brought him in as a secondary coach before moving him to the offensive side of the ball.

This is the third stint Jackson will have with Cincy. He coached receivers in 2004 through 2006 and then rejoined them from 2012-2015 before joining the Browns.
