They finally have their franchise quarterback

We have all seen the ridiculous jersey. You know the one that has the last names of every starting quarterback the Cleveland Browns have had since coming back to the NFL in 1999. They’ve thought throughout that time they had their guy, but it continually flamed out.

Tim Couch, Charlie Frye, Jeff Garcia, Derek Anderson, Brady Quinn, Brandon Weeden, and Johnny Manziel are just a few of the names that have come into Cleveland and tried to take the starting job.

None lasted long — and some flamed out in embarrassing fashion. Throughout the years, Browns’ fans have suffered through this and started anticipating just how quickly the graphic with the list of starting quarterbacks would make its appearance during each telecast.

That’s no longer the case thankfully. The Browns have hit gold this season with Baker Mayfield, who has led them to three wins this season and had another stolen from him as the refs pretty much handed Oakland his first official start.

Mayfield just had his best game ever against Atlanta and enters the bye with 1,984 yards on 61.8 percent passing. He’s thrown 13 touchdowns against seven interceptions and looks to be head and shoulders above other rookie quarterbacks.

Next. Looking ahead to their needs in 2019. dark

There’s plenty for Cleveland fans to be excited about this season, but this one surely tops the list. The future looks bright for the Browns, and this is the quarterback they have been looking for.
