Cleveland Browns: Looking at all reported potential head coach candidates
By Dan Justik
As the Cleveland Browns begin the search for their next head coach, we take a look at all of the potential candidates that have been reported so far.
The Cleveland Browns are once again looking for another head coach after the organization fired Hue Jackson on October 29th.
There was a belief that owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam would be leading the search instead of general manager John Dorsey. However, it has been reported that Dorsey would be in fact leading the search, and the Haslam’s will not be as involved as they were in the previous Browns coaching searches.
This will be the first head coaching search that Dorsey will lead in his career as a general manager. When he was hired as the Kansas City Chiefs general manager, Andy Reid had already been announced as the team’s new head coach.
Without prior exposure to a Dorsey-led coaching search, no one is really sure how the search will be conducted and who Dorsey will be targeting.
Similar to when the Browns had the first overall draft pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, it is likely no one will know who is the leading candidate for the job until the final days of the coaching search.
One thing that should be expected with the next head coach is that the person will be offensive minded. With Baker Mayfield on the roster, the Browns are going to do whatever they can to help his development. Adding someone that is strong on the offensive side of the ball to groom the quarterback would be beneficial to Mayfield’s career.
As the coaching search has only just started, there have been a lot of coaches that have already been reported as potential candidates. Here’s a look at all of the coaches that have been reported so far.
List will be updated throughout the coaching search when more coaches are named as potential candidates.
