Cleveland Browns road map for unlikely, but possible, playoff run
By Mitch Zoloty
The Titans Schedule
Last week the Titans got smacked in Indianapolis by the Colts. This week they have the Texans in Houston. After that, they have the Jets, Jaguars, Giants, Redskins, and Colts. The Texans and the Colts are the Titans last real tests this season. For the Browns to make the playoffs at 8-7-1 the Titans most likely need to lose both these games.

The Jaguars, Giants, Jets, and Redskins are all teams in turmoil right now. The Jags have lost six straight games and haven’t shown much of a chance of getting back on track. The Giants should be in full tank mode at the moment to try to get the first overall pick.
The Jets are currently without Sam Darnold and play the Titans next week. The Bills walked into the Metlife stadium and smacked the Jets 41-10 last week, so don’t expect an upset to come from them. The Redskins are also without their starting quarterback, Alex Smith, and backup Colt McCoy threw three interceptions against the Cowboys this Thanksgiving.
If the Colts and Texans beat the Titans, then the Browns need only one upset from these remaining teams. It would most likely come from Colt McCoy and the Redskins when they travel to Nashville in Week 16.
The Broncos Schedule
The Broncos are only half a game ahead of the Browns, so the Browns could watch them go 4-2 and still get in the playoffs ahead of them in this situation. In this scenario the Browns would beat the Broncos, so the Broncos could go 4-1 over their other 5 remaining games and still not make the playoffs.
The Broncos remaining schedule besides the Browns includes the Steelers, Bengals, 49ers, Raiders, and Chargers. Even though the Broncos are hosting the Steelers and Chargers, they are most likely going to lose at least one of those games. The Broncos were able to upset the Chargers in Los Angeles, so expect the Chargers to come to Denver with a vengeance.
The Bengals are another team on this list that the Browns need to pass to make the playoffs. In this scenario, the Bengals could go 3-3 and not make the playoffs and the Browns would have to be two of those losses. If the Broncos could go to Cincinnati and upset the Bengals that would help out the Browns tremendously.
The 49ers and Raiders are both away games for the Broncos, so the team could slip up and lose one of these games also. The Broncos probably have the smallest chance of making the playoffs in this scenario.
