Although the Cleveland Browns reportedly had signed former 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster, the reports were false. Instead, the Washington Redskins were the ones to sign the Alabama product.

To put it very, very lightly, former San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster is a troubled soul. The second-year linebacker from Alabama came into the league with some serious off the field issues, and those haven’t let up since arriving in the NFL.

Finally, over last weekend, the 49ers decided that enough was enough with Foster. Following a domestic abuse charge against Foster, the 49ers released him onto league waivers.

Though it was considered unlikely by many that Foster would find a home at all, there was a waiver claim made for his services on Tuesday afternoon.

More from Browns News

Originally, football insider Adam Schefter reported that it was, in fact, the Cleveland Browns who had signed Foster off of waivers. That tweet had a lifespan of about two minutes since it was immediately deleted after Schefter was fed incorrect information.

What really happened was that there was a team that made a claim, and the specific team was undisclosed to Schefter.

Turns out, Browns fans, and maybe even the Browns themselves, had survived the Foster scare. The Washington Redskins were the ones to sign Foster, and Browns fans on social media seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.

While he is supremely talented, Reuben Foster is way more trouble than he’s worth when it comes to off-field problems. The Browns are not built to handle a player like that, and they just got rid of their premier head case earlier this season in Josh Gordon.

Next. Hugs for Hue campaign. dark

Perhaps the Washington Redskins can revive the career of Foster and put him on the straight and narrow, but it’s more than likely that Foster will flame out there too. The Browns almost certainly dodged a bullet with this one, as Foster is another team’s problem now.
