Studs and Duds

Anymore there are too many people in the league to call out the stupid picks. But we have some this week. Why anyone on this planet would pick the Oakland Raiders to win again is beyond me. But this week Kevin Madden and Andrew Tkach did just that taking the Raiders over the Baltimore Ravens. That pick for Tkach ruined an otherwise great week for him. Raeshawn Jackson picked the New York Jets over the New England Patriots. I am not sure if this is an attempt to gain on the leader but it was dumb nonetheless. Come on people!

There were some good picks this week that went against the grain. Not sure what possessed Mitch Zoloty, Matthew McFatridge, and Stewart Harge to pick the Buffalo Bills, but kudos to you guys. You must have known something the rest of us don’t.

Maybe it is the fact that Bills quarterback Josh Allen is a better runner than passer. Maybe the rest of us didn’t see the downward trending Jacksonville Jaguars, who recently announced they are starting former Browns quarterback Cody Kessler next week, getting beat by the upwardly mobile Bills. Break a table guys. You deserve it. We now go live to Zoloty, McFatridge, and Harge celebrating their great week:

Weekly Standings

So, I have had people who have come late to the party ask for a system that will keep them involved. Granted, they are out of the overall standings race. But after taking a suggestion from recent comments, we at DPD Pick’em have agreed to do a weekly average category.

At the end of the season, we will take the best 6-8 weeks of each player and average them out. We will then compare averages to determine who has the best weekly pick’em success. This will allow those people who joined late to be recognized for their picking prowess.

Ok. This week was an interesting week. Most of the games were straightforward which resulted in some high number of correct picks. First place this week goes to DPD’s own Mitch Zoloty. This college boy showed off his smarts by not only picking 13 games correct but also getting closest to picking the correct points on Monday night. Mitch is living proof that offensive linemen are the smartest people in the room. Congratulations Mitch. Hope you didn’t hurt yourself in the above Buffalo celebration.
