Cleveland Browns: Why we can, and cannot trust Josh McDaniels
By Randy Gurzi
Josh McDaniels is a reported favorite for the Cleveland Browns head coaching job. Here is why we shouldn’t trust him as the next coach, as well as why we should.
We still have five more games left in the 2018 NFL Season, but speculation is already through the roof on what the Cleveland Browns will be doing in the offseason in regards to their head coaching position.
Currently on a 2-1 streak under interim head coach Gregg Williams, the Browns are showing what they can do with capable leadership. Due to their recent play, Williams will also surely get a shot to interview for the position permanently.
He won’t be alone as others like Mike McCarthy (if he is fired in Green Bay), Lincoln Riley, Joe DeFilippo, and Bruce Arians have all been rumored as people of interest. Of course, another name that pops up is Josh McDaniels, and Albert Breer of the NFL Network reportedly said that he’s near the top of the list.
Surely there are those out there who shudder at the thought of the Browns pursuing McDaniels, and there are very valid reasons for that. The current New England Patriots offensive coordinator has done a lot of good in this league with his creative play calling.
He’s also done a lot of damage to his image, both while as a coach with the Denver Broncos and during his most recent foray into the NFL coaching search. Here we will look at reasons why we can trust McDaniels, as well as the reasons any pursuit of him should scare the hell out of fans.
