During his week 14 post-game press conference, Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield called for more fans in seats for the home finale. With the game now officially being ruled a sell-out, it appears Mayfield got his wish.

It’s December in Cleveland, Ohio. For the past twenty years, this has meant that FirstEnergy Stadium is normally under halfway full.

But, as is the trend with the 2018 Cleveland Browns, the trend has been firmly bucked this year.

The Browns have just announced that their week 16 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals will be a sellout crowd.

Baker Mayfield called Browns fans to action following a week 14 win over the Carolina Panthers.

"“We would love to have more fan support. Today was cold, I get it, but having more people, especially at our last home game coming up, we would love to have more people in the stands cheering for us because we feed off of the energy.” – Mayfield"

Mayfield got his wish in spades, as the birthplace of rock and roll will certainly be rocking and rolling this weekend. FirstEnergy stadium will see a packed December crowd for the first time in what feels like eons. This will hopefully be the first of many late-season sellout crowds for Mayfield and the “New Browns.”

If this teaches us anything about the Browns, it’s that Baker Mayfield’s voice carries weight not only throughout the team, but throughout the city. Mayfield put out a simple, almost in-passing request in a mid-November post-game press conference, and his voice was heard loud and clear.

Browns fans are willing to brave the cold for their football team, and their franchise quarterback. Not only will Mayfield’s team be following him into the confines of FirstEnergy Stadium, but so will  67,895 of his closest friends.
