When the Cleveland Browns relieved Sashi Brown of his duties as the Executive Vice President of football operations, the expectation was that the Browns would be done relying on the analytics approach.
The hiring of John Dorsey as general manager reaffirmed that, as Dorsey was known for being a classic “football guy” who has football roots as a scout.
Dorsey surrounded himself with other “football guys” in Eliot Wolf, son of legendary NFL executive Ron Wolf, and Alonzo Highsmith, a former NFL fullback.

This one was for Bob Wylie! Set Hut!
During the lead up to the Browns Week 16 game against the Bengals, offensive line coach Bob Wylie suffered a broken ankle in practice. Casey Kinnamon discusses how the Browns used Wylie’s injury as motivation for their 26-18 victory.
"Chances are, although Cleveland has finished the year on a strong note, duplicating this success will prove more challenging next year. Opponents will pore over this season’s film and pinpoint weaknesses to exploit. And it’s rare that an interim coach winds up being the long-term answer for teams."
The success that Gregg Williams has had as the Cleveland Browns interim head coach has made the coaching search for the front office much more difficult. His success in the role should make him a serious candidate, but the Browns need to consider every option as they look for their next head coach.
