Cleveland Browns: 5 ways to become contenders in 2019
By Randy Gurzi
Re-sign Greg Robinson, Breshad Perriman, Rashard Higgins (RFA)
First thing first, the Browns need to keep their free agents who have earned new contracts. Offensive tackle Greg Robinson has played well since being inserted into the starting lineup. He’s helped afford Baker Mayfield time to make the right throws and he’s also gotten the praise of Joe Thomas. He may not be the long-term answer, but he’s proven that he’s good enough to start if needed.

Because of this, Robinson deserves a second contract from the Browns. He may not get more than a one-year deal, but he should get a decent raise and at worst, is a solid swing tackle option. Best case, he’s the starter again next year.
Another signing they made late in the game was the move to pick up Breshad Perriman. The former Baltimore first-round pick has found a niche in the Cleveland offense as a deep threat. He’s never going to live up to his draft status, but he has averaged 22.7 yards per reception for the Browns and should be brought back.
The final player who needs to be re-signed is Rashard Higgins. Thankfully, he’s a restricted free agent making it much more likely he stays in town as the Browns can match any offer for the young wideout. Higgins has shown a great rapport with Mayfield and has 35 receptions for 486 yards and four touchdowns in 12 games this season.
Keeping these three will ensure the Browns have some key depth positions covered as they look for more stars in the 2019 NFL Draft.
