During those last two games, he led the Browns to a 1-1 record and clinched a wildcard spot in the postseason. He will always be remembered for his wildcard playoff performance where he went on to throw for 429 yards in a heartbreaking loss to the Steelers, at the time setting a record for most passing yards in a regulation postseason game.

Holcomb won the starting job over Couch the following season, largely in part to the magical numbers he put up down the stretch in 2002.

Holcomb finished his four seasons with the Browns with an overall record of 4-8, throwing 26 touchdowns and 21 interceptions; His career quarterback rating while wearing the orange helmet was 83.3.

After the 2004 season, Holcomb departed Cleveland and landed in Buffalo where he played for two more years, then in Minnesota for one season, tallying a total of 11 more starts to his name. Since retiring Holcomb has had gigs in the booth at his alma mater Middle Tennessee State University, as well as coaching high school football.
