Dez Bryant, WR, New Orleans Saints

Ok, so admittedly Dez Bryant does nothing under the radar. He knows how to get attention and there’s a good argument to the belief that he met with the Browns as a free agent simply to get on ‘Hard Knocks’ this past offseason. The signs were there, he showed up to the airport with camera crews present and met with coaches and even the radio crew while the film was rolling.

Having said that, Dez has been an afterthought since then. He took until November to land with a team as he and the New Orleans Saints agreed to a one-year deal. Sadly, Bryant never took the field for them as he tore his Achilles two days later.

The Saints say they want to bring him back, but if they do well in the postseason without him, they may change their mind. If they do, the Browns should give him another call.

For those who remember me being against this idea a year ago, hear me out. This is a completely different situation for both sides. For the Browns, they’re no longer a losing team led by Hue Jackson. This team is now led by Baker Mayfield and a big ego like Dez Bryant can co-exist with him. Mayfield won’t succumb to Bryant’s demands for the ball but has enough moxie to keep him calm and happy.

As for Bryant, he also isn’t looking at the same team he did last year. He’s no longer being asked to save the franchise, but instead to come and join the fun. Cleveland was on a roll to finish the season and that likely carries into this season.

Should the Saints let him test the open market, Dorsey and company may not be wrong to give him another call and again check the temperature.
