The Cleveland Browns have been moving in the right direction ever since firing Hue Jackson and Todd Haley. Now, they’ve hired successful interim offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens to be their head coach going forward.

The Cleveland Browns have made their move at the head coaching position. Chris Mortensen has reported that they would be hiring interim offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens for their head coaching position going forward – and that an announcement should be made later in the day.

From the time that Kitchens was officially promoted to the Browns’ offensive coordinator position after week eight, the Browns hit the gas on offense.

Baker Mayfield began lighting up the league, had a tremendous second half under the guidance of Kitchens, and the offense as a whole improved ten-fold due to Kitchens’s creativity in playcalling.

Needless to say, Kitchens was the fan favorite to become the head coach of the team. Interim head coach Gregg Williams did a fine job for the last eight games, but it was clear that Kitchens was likely the better fit moving forward. But, it’s likely that this is an “all or nothing” kind of move.

Kitchens has never had any head coaching experience, at any level. He’s a great offensive mind, but time has yet to tell whether or not he’ll actually be the right fit to lead an entire team.

Next. Under the radar free agents to consider. dark

Nevertheless, most Browns fans have gotten their No. 1 hire and should be pretty happy. Let’s just hope this one works, for the sake of Baker Mayfield and the Browns.
