Cleveland Browns News: Joel Bitonio named to Pro Bowl
By Dan Justik
The Daily Dawg Tags brings you all the Cleveland Browns news that you need to know, including Joel Bitonio being named to the Pro Bowl.
The Cleveland Browns had multiple players on the roster that had seasons that should have deserved a Pro Bowl nod.
Initially, the Browns only had two players going to Orlando, Florida for the Pro Bowl: defensive end Myles Garrett and cornerback Denzel Ward. There were also several players named alternates.
One of those alternates, left guard Joel Bitonio, got the call that he was named to the Pro Bowl, as he will be replacing Pittsburgh Steelers right guard David DeCastro.

Bitonio had one of the best seasons of all of the guards in the NFL, as he and the rest of the Browns interior offensive line helped keep Baker Mayfield standing upright. Although he was not initially named to the Pro Bowl, this honor is still well deserved.

Cleveland Browns OL Joel Bitonio named to 2019 Pro Bowl – Ben Axelrod, WKYC
"On Thursday, the Browns announced that Joel Bitonio has been selected to the 2019 Pro Bowl, replacing Pittsburgh Steelers guard David DeCastro. Initially named a first-team alternate, Bitonio’s Pro Bowl selection marks the first of his five-year NFL career."
It was a surprise that neither Bitonio nor Browns right guard Kevin Zeitler were not named to the initial Pro Bowl roster. Both guards were incredible in 2018, as Pro Football Focus graded them both in the top-five of all guards in the NFL.
Cleveland Browns Mythbusters: Freddie Kitchens edition
There have been a lot of theories as to why the Browns decided to hire Freddie Kitchens as the head coach and why he will not be successful. Chris Markoch broke down why each myth about the hiring is incorrect.
"What he does have, however, outweighs that which he doesn’t. He has players who love him — one of which just happens to be perhaps the most special player Cleveland has seen since Bernie Kosar was roaming around. He has an organization behind his back and has shown he knows his way around an offense and that he has an ability to make Mayfield feel right at home."
There are many people around the league that are questioning the Browns hiring of Kitchens, but it made a lot of sense for Cleveland. He already had the ear of the most important player on the roster, and he showed he has the offensive prowess that would make him a hot commodity. No matter what people outside of Cleveland will say, this was a great hire for Cleveland.
Ian Rapoport on Freddie Kitchens: “He doesn’t look like a head coach.”
NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport and Rich Eisen were wondering why Kitchens was not getting other looks for head coach positions around the league, in which Rapoport believes that people around the league do not think Kitchens “looks like a head coach.” That statement made Mike Lukas wonder, since when do looks determine how good someone will be as a head coach?
