The Cleveland Browns have made their presence known throughout the coaching world this offseason. Moments after hiring James Campen as offensive line coach, the Browns picked up Todd Monken as offensive coordinator.

The void left by the promotion of Freddie Kitchens to head coach has been filled.

The Cleveland Browns have picked their offensive coordinator: Todd Monken, former offensive coordinator of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, he should be joining the Dawg Pound relatively soon.

Monken, a notable follower of the Air Raid system, transformed the Buccaneers’ pass game, and offensive attack as a whole in 2018. Now, he switches out James Winston for the highly-accurate Baker Mayfield and has Nick Chubb as his bell-cow running back.

Mayfield is in line for Offensive Rookie of the Year and Chubb, a second-round pick out of Georgia,  was among the best running backs to enter the league this season.

With those players — and more — Monken will have a plethora of offensive weapons at his disposal, and will get to inject his system into one of the most talented young teams in football.

Overall, new head coach Freddie Kitchens has done a tremendous job assembling his coaching staff. With Steve Wilks, Stump Mitchell, James Campen, Mike Priefer, and now Todd Monken on board, the Browns will have a great group of coaching minds to pick teams apart this season in all phases of the game.
