This weekend ended up being one with a flurry of hires for the Cleveland Browns. After a long interview process, they decided Freddie Kitchens was the man to hire and this weekend became all about adding his staff to the team.
Among the biggest hires happened to be their new defensive coordinator, Steve Wilks, who was let go by the Arizona Cardinals after just one season as their head coach. They also added Todd Monken as offensive coordinator and Mike Priefer as their special teams coach.
Other assistants were added as well as the Browns completed an overhaul of the coaching staff — which happens to be the first assembled by head coach John Dorsey.

Mike Priefer added as special teams coordinator
The Browns beat out several teams for this hire as Mike Priefer was coveted by the Arizona Cardinals and Detroit Lions. He was even offered a contract by the Minnesota Vikings, the team he has been with since 2011. That’s a great sign for the Browns who are on the upswing as they were able to land someone so many teams wanted.

Dan Justik looks at the new defensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns. Steve Wilks got a raw deal with the Cardinals but was incredibly well-respected in Carolina where he was a successful defensive coordinator for the Panthers.
Browns hiring Todd Monken as offensive coordinator, source says
"The 52-year-old had been Tampa Bay’s offensive coordinator since 2016 after he was Southern Miss’ head coach from 2013 to ’15. He was Jacksonville’s wide receivers coach from 2007 to ’10 and has had various stops at the college level."
The final big-name hire to come across for the Browns was Todd Monken, who will be their offensive coordinator. He seemed to be their choice all along and late Sunday night word broke that the Browns got their man.
