By Randy Gurzi
The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including the team site telling us more about Steve Wilks, their new defensive coordinator
There’s still plenty of work for the Cleveland Browns to get done this offseason, but they’ve done a great job of putting their new staff together. Rookie head coach Freddie Kitchens is a fan favorite and showed some real offensive knowledge in his eight games as the offensive coordinator last season.
From there, they added some more talent as they brought in some respected coordinators like Todd Monken and Steve Wilks. As for Wilks, he was most recently the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, where he only had one season to try and prove his worth.
He ended up getting a raw deal there and comes to the Browns looking to clean up his image. Which he should be able to do because he’s a talented defensive coordinator. And now, you can find out a little more about him as the team’s official website recently posted a few things about Wilks so fans can get to know him a little better.

"Wilks’ first job after his playing career paid him $2,500 a month. He worked as a branch manager at First Citizens Bank. Wilks said he felt an itch to coach and was hired as a defensive coordinator at Johnson C. Smith University, a historically black university that enrolls less than 2,000 students and is located less than two miles from the Panthers’ stadium."
Wilks is a true success story as he came out of nowhere to become one of the most respected defensive minds in the game. That kind of background will keep him grounded as he looks to improve the Cleveland defense.
