The Cleveland Browns made a lot of progress in 2018 and can be even better in 2019. Here are three potential breakout stars who can help on that endeavor.

After one win and 31 losses during the 2016 and 2017 season, Cleveland Browns fans deserved something good to cheer about. And 2018 gave them plenty of that.

Starting with their comeback win over the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football — which ended in free beer — the Browns started to look like a better team and giving their fans reason to celebrate. Of course, they still struggled and had a record of 2-5-1 at the midway point of the season.

That’s when things changed. General manager John Dorsey and team owner Jimmy Haslam decided to move on from head coach Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley. Their replacements were Gregg Williams and Freddie Kitchens — who took on the interim head coach and offensive coordinator roles respectively.

Fans were then treated to a team that was allowed to be themselves. Quarterback Baker Mayfield was making news on the field for his play and off the field, he made headlines for his confidence and willingness to say whatever came to his mind.

After going 5-3 down the stretch thanks to the play of Mayfield under Kitchens’ guidance, the Browns decided to keep Kitchens around as the head coach and now expectations for this season are beginning to climb.

However, if Cleveland wants to take the next step and become playoff contenders, they will need some of their role players to step up and become big contributors. Here, we will look at three potential sleepers that could become breakout stars.
