The Cleveland Browns just hired new coordinators, but those positions on the staff could see many different names over the next several years.

The Cleveland Browns finally announced their coordinators to the media on Thursday. Todd Monken, Steve Wilks, and Mike Priefer all made their first appearances in front of the Cleveland media.

All three talked about coming to Cleveland because of one thing: The opportunity to win. The Browns have a roster that is built to compete for the playoffs in 2019 and beyond.

Having a talented roster ready to do big things is certainly an attraction for coaches trying to find their next job. That is why the Browns were lucky enough to get Monken, Wilks, and Priefer to join Freddie Kitchens’ staff.

But there is another reason why these coaches were so intrigued to coach the Browns. With the talent already here, these coordinators, especially Monken and Wilks, will have a great opportunity to build up their résumé’s for head coaching opportunities.

If the Browns have success this season and the coaches can turn their talent into a top offense and defense in the league, then teams are going to want to interview Monken and Wilks for head coaching vacancies in the off-season.

With the talent that the Browns have on their roster, it is reasonable to assume that they can morph these units into some of the best units in the league. Wilks had great success in his one season as the Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator in 2017. Monken had the best passing offense in the NFL last season with mediocre quarterback play.

Both coaches have a young offense and defense that are ready to take their games to the next level. The Browns offense has already landed a former coordinator a head coaching job. So there is a good chance that Monken will get the same opportunity next off-season.

Monken was already seen as a head coach candidate this off-season, interviewing for the New York Jets job. After a year in a Baker Mayfield led offense, he could become one of the hottest coaching candidates next season.

And Wilks has already been a head coach, but is looking to rebuild his value after being fired in one season. He will be leading a young defense that has yet to live up to its potential. If he can turn around a defense that struggled last season, he could see another opportunity next season.

A strong 2019 could start a trend for whoever becomes a Browns coordinator. With such a young team that has plenty of potential, Browns coordinators have a great opportunity to succeed in Cleveland.

If the Browns can have continued success over the next several seasons, teams are going to want to poach the Browns coordinators for head coaching vacancies. Teams that can string together successful season after successful season are usually forced to hire new coordinators every other season.

Should the Browns live up to expectations in 2019, the Browns organization is going to have to get used to teams wanting to hire their coordinators. It will be a good sign because that means the team is winning, but it will be hard to find the right person every other season.
