Cleveland Browns: Get ready to learn more about Freddie Kitchens
By Randy Gurzi
The Cleveland Browns went outside the box with their hire of Freddie Kitchens as their new head coach. Ahead of his rookie season, Doug Lesmerises is about to help us get to know him a little better with a new 5-part series
There are no two men in Cleveland sports who have grown in popularity more than Baker Mayfield and Freddie Kitchens. The new face of the Cleveland Browns franchise and the play caller who helped him unleash his talent have brought new hope to a team once nicknamed the ‘Factory of Sadness’.
After taking over for Todd Haley as the offensive coordinator, Kitchens went from an unknown assistant to a household name. He then became a dark horse candidate for the head coaching job before eventually landing the gig.
While all that has happened, there’s still not a whole lot we know about Kitchens. Yes, he was a former Alabama quarterback, that much we know as he was making bets with players like Nick Chubb from Georgia when Bama played UGA for the SEC title.
We also know he spent time with the Arizona Cardinals under Bruce Arians, and that Arians taught him how to make a good cocktail.
Beyond that, Kitchens is a guy we are still learning about, but that won’t be the case for long. Doug Lesmerises of Cleveland.com is setting up a five-part series based on Kitchens, which will start on Feb. 11 on the website.
Lesmerises went to the town of Gadsden in Alabama to talk to those who knew Kitchens best to help us understand more of what makes the new Browns leader tick.
For those ready to learn more about the new head coach — which should be all of us — make sure to check out what Lesmerises discovered.
