The Cleveland Browns are better, but still have plenty of holes to fill in free agency and the draft. As consensus pick Jeffery Simmons likely falls out of the first round, the Browns could look to Michigan linebacker Devin Bush.

The Cleveland Browns are oh, so close. With a franchise quarterback in place in Baker Mayfield, and young talent all over the board, the Browns are right there and could have a shot at the playoffs come 2019. But, the Dawg Pound still has some holes to fill, and John Dorsey can’t rest on his laurels come this offseason.

As the new league year begins in March, Dorsey will be hard at work once again as he looks to turn the Browns into a contender for the first time in over 20 years. The Browns boast a young defense, with a ton of upside on all lines of defense. Under new defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, they could really use a playmaking linebacker to put alongside Christian Kirksey and Joe Schobert.

Enter Michigan linebacker Devin Bush, who FanSided’s own Randy Gurzi chose for Cleveland in his latest mock draft. Bush was a stand-out for the Big Ten last season, collecting a grand total of 66 tackles last season for the Wolverines. In addition to that, the 20-year old had 4.5 sacks and four passes defensed on the year, as he helped Michigan go 10-3 on the year and finish No. 14 in the country.

Although he only stands at 5-11, Bush’s lateral speed and versatility make him a tantalizing target for Cleveland. He’d be in great hands with Steve Wilks, who has coached some great linebackers in his time, including Panthers star Luke Kuechly. Wilks’ penchant for aggressive defense and blitzing linebackers work perfectly with Bush’s skill set, and at only 20 years old, he would be a great young investment.

As the NFL chugs along into late February, the NFL Draft picture begins to come into focus. There’s no guarantee that Bush will be available for the Browns at No. 17, but if he is, this pick could be a steal.

Bush is young, and yet already polished and talented. Under the right coaching staff, he could be the electric linebacker that the Browns have lacked for years. Steve Wilks just might be the guy to bring out the best in Bush.
