Round 4, Pick 17: Daniel Wise, DT, Kansas

One draft pick was already used on a defensive tackle as the Browns took Jeffery Simmons with their second pick in this mock. One defensive tackle won’t be enough as their depth is already thin, plus Simmons is likely out for all of 2019. That’s why the Browns take another d-tackle now that they’re back on the clock in the fourth round.

Daniel Wise from Kansas is the choice, and he could be a steal at this point in the draft. The 290-pound Wise recorded five sacks in each of the past two seasons and 17 in his career for the Jayhawks. He could develop into a nice rotational piece capable of bringing pressure on opposing quarterbacks from the interior.

Round 5, Pick 6: Lonnie Johnson, Jr., CB, Kentucky

Cornerback is a pretty significant need for Cleveland but they wait until the fifth round to address it in this mock since Denzel Ward and Terrance Mitchell are decent starters and other needs are more pressing. The selection that finally addresses the position ends up being Lonnie Johnson from Kentucky, who has more than enough size at 6-foot-3 and 206-pounds. He has a lot to work on, which is why he’s available at this point, but he performed well enough in the Senior Bowl to get a shot in the NFL.
