Cleveland Browns reportedly have no chance to land Antonio Brown
By Dan Justik
Even if the Cleveland Browns were interested in trading for Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, there is reportedly no chance they could land the receiver from their rival.
The Cleveland Browns will have the ability to make a variety of moves this off-season, including having the assets necessary to swing a deal for a superstar talent.
One of the biggest names that is available on the trade market this off-season is Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown. Brown has made it well-known over the past several weeks that he wants out of Pittsburgh.
With the chances extremely high that Brown is traded before the 2019 season, do not expect him to land in Cleveland. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported Friday that the Steelers consider teams in the AFC North as “no-trade zones.”

"The team would prefer to send Brown to an NFC team for competitive reasons, a source told ESPN. The New England Patriots and AFC North rivals are considered no-trade zones, and the Steelers would rather see Brown affect wins and losses in another conference, if possible. – Jeremy Fowler, ESPN"
Brown has proven to be one of the best wide receivers in the NFL the past several years. He can make plays all over the field and can swing the momentum of a game with one play. So it’s understandable as to why the Steelers do not want him in the division if they trade Brown – or the conference for that matter.
The Cleveland Browns could be in the market for a play-making wide receiver this off-season. But as noted by Fowler, it seems incredibly unlikely that the Browns would be able to make a deal with Pittsburgh if they were interested in trying to acquire Brown.
Since the beginning of the off-season, it has been hard to get a feel for what Browns general manager John Dorsey is planning on doing this off-season. Dorsey will make deals in the trade market and free agency that are not expected and will surprise a lot of people.
The wide receiver position could be the one area that Dorsey’s potential moves will surprise people this off-season. He may choose to address the position and find a play-maker, such as Brown, to give quarterback Baker Mayfield a big time player to throw to.
However, Dorsey may feel comfortable with his current wide receiver corps and either keep them together or make a smaller move or two to add talent to the group. So Dorsey could go a variety of directions at the wide receiver position this off-season.
But there is one move that Dorsey will definitely not be able to make this off-season, and that is to trade for Brown. It is unknown if Dorsey was even considering the idea of trading for Brown, but he should apparently not even waste the time getting on the phone with the Steelers front office.
