Joe Kipp from NFL Spin Zone predicts 10 crazy trades that could happen this offseason, including one where wide receiver Chris Godwin joins the Cleveland Browns

It’s speculation season as many of us are looking ahead to free agency and the NFL Draft. In addition to those two events, there could be some trades taking place — and the Cleveland Browns were heavily in the trade market just one season ago.

With that being the case, it makes sense to see their names pop up again this year whenever a trade rumor surfaces. However, there are other potential trades we don’t see coming, which is the preface of a piece from one writer who is trying to think outside the box to find possible trades in the NFL.

Joe Kipp from NFL Spin Zone predicts 10 different moves that seem crazy but could happen. And in one of his predictions, the Browns give a third-round pick to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in exchange for wide receiver Chris Godwin.

More from Browns News

"“As the Tampa Bay Buccaneers enter a new era with new head coach Bruce Arians, several players may be on the chopping block or trade market as he may want to bring in his own players to fit his system. Not to say that receiver Chris Godwin isn’t capable of performing with Arians, but it still makes sense for the Cleveland Browns to trade for him.” — Kipp, NFL Spin Zone"

At first, this seems like a trade we could dismiss. The Bucs aren’t showing any signs they would trade Godwin, but then again‚— how many of us saw the Damarious Randall trade coming?

As Kipp points out, a new coaching staff could lead to some changes with the roster. However, their receiving corps may not be an area they want to mess with.

DeSean Jackson has already seemed ready to move on and Adam Humphries is a free agent. Should both be playing elsewhere in 2019, there’s pretty much no chance they move Godwin. Should they keep either player — especially Humphries — that could change.

From the Browns perspective, this would make sense. They’re in need of depth at the position and Godwin could add to their committee approach which was fairly successful in 2018.

Even with all that being said, this feels like a long shot to actually happen. But it does sound better than a move for John Ross.
