D.K. Metcalf would like to play with Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns
By Randy Gurzi
The Cleveland Browns reportedly met with wide receiver D.K. Metcalf who says he would love to play with quarterback Baker Mayfield
Ole Miss wide receiver D.K. Metcalf is quickly becoming a star as he showed up to the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine with less than two percent body fat. He continued to impress as he ripped out 27 reps in the bench press, jumped 40.5 inches vertically and also ran an insane 4.33 in the 40-yard dash.
All that caught the attention of everyone watching, and it also caught the attention of the Cleveland Browns who reportedly met with the 6-foot-3, 228-pound receiver this weekend according to Jeff Risdon of The Browns Wire, USA Today.
While meeting with the Browns brass, Risdon says Metcalf revealed that he was a big fan of what Baker Mayfield does at quarterback. The incoming rookie also said, “it would be a blessing” to be on the same team as the 2018 No. 1 overall pick.

That shouldn’t surprise too many people considering the fact that Mayfield is quickly becoming one of the brightest stars in the NFL. Cleveland knew that this would be one of the positive side effects of drafting Mayfield and players will only gravitate to him more as he continues to grow as a professional.
As for Metcalf, his name should sound familiar to Browns fans. His cousin is Eric Metcalf, who was one of the most electric running backs and return men in Cleveland history. He also had a father who played football at Ole Miss and his grandfather, Terry Metcalf, played for the St. Louis Cardinals as a running back.
Metcalf would also fill a huge need for the Browns. They currently have Jarvis Landry and Antonio Callaway under contract, but both receivers are under 6-foot-tall. Landing a large-bodied target like Metcalf would open up the offense — that is, provided he lasts until pick No. 17.
Metcalf’s performance at the combine could propel him up some boards. He does have questions as he’s coming off a neck injury and ran a real limited route tree at Ole Miss, but there’s potential enough there for the Browns to be interested, just like he is in them.
