Cleveland Browns: Joint 7-round mock draft after 2019 NFL Scouting Combine
By Cory Kinnan
Randy: Khalil Hodge, LB, Buffalo
A fifth-round linebacker named Genard Avery deserves more time in 2019. Replacing him as the next rookie to fight for snaps is Khalil Hodge — who also comes in with a fifth-round pick. With Collins likely out the door, the Browns are going to need to address the linebacker position at some point in this year’s draft. Here in the fifth round they take a chance on Hodge.
Cory: Anthony Nelson, DE, Iowa
A big, long defensive lineman to add to Steve Wilks’ defense, Anthony Nelson from Iowa had a great Combine and may end up in the Cleveland as they continue to improve their defensive line. A Carl Nassib type build, Nelson stands at 6’7 and 271 pounds, with nearly 35 inch arms. He also showed he had some athleticism in that large frame, running in the 4.8s and displaying great movement in his on-field drills.
Shane: TJ Edwards, LB, Wisconsin
Another linebacker selected in the fifth round by the Browns, history shows that Cleveland has success when drafting Badger players; Joe Thomas and Joe Schobert are just two examples of this. T.J. Edwards is a good tackler and run stopper that could very well develop into a starter one day. For now, he gives the linebacker core depth that they surely need, especially as previously mentioned, Collins more than likely hitting the door soon.
