Free agents from AFC South Cleveland Browns should consider targeting

Tennessee Titans – EDGE Derrick Morgan
As previously mentioned, the Browns need to add more talent and depth along the defensive line. Although defensive tackle is a bigger need, the Browns also need more players on the edge that can get to the quarterback.
The Browns may draft a talented edge rusher in the draft, but they should consider signing a veteran edge rusher as well. Someone that has shown a good ability to get to the quarterback is Derrick Morgan.
Morgan has played as a 3-4 outside linebacker the last several years, but has the size to hold up as a 4-3 edge rusher. He also has experience playing defensive end at the beginning of his career.
Last season was a terrible year for the 30-year-old, making a combined 25 tackles, zero tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, four quarterback hits, and three passes defended in 13 games. The year prior, Morgan made a combined 32 total tackles, six tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and 14 quarterback hits.
For how bad of a 2018 season Morgan had, it does not seem likely that a team is going to be willing to pay him good money this off-season. He will most likely have to settle on a one-year deal as a role player, which fits exactly what the Browns should consider this off-season.
Putting Morgan in a defensive end rotation and swapping out with Myles Garrett will benefit the entire unit. And with Morgan playing in a more limited capacity, he could be more effective at rushing the passer.
If the Browns want to sign a cheap veteran on the edge that has something to prove, then Morgan falls right in line with that thinking. Putting Morgan in an aggressive defense would provide the Browns solid depth on the defensive line.
