The Cleveland Browns have once again been connected to trading for Odell Beckham Jr., with the chance of the trade happening ‘soon’.

The Cleveland Browns have started to make noise in free agency after agreeing to terms with defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson to a three-year deal.

However, just as several days earlier, the organization is being connected to potentially making a trade for New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

Steve Doerschuk of the Canton Repository tweeted on Tuesday he would not be surprised if the Browns make a trade for Beckham “soon.”

Doerschuk’s tweet was followed by a report from ESPN’s Josina Anderson, saying the Giants have been contacted by an AFC North team Tuesday about Beckham’s availability and the discussions were “ongoing.”

Since last week, the Browns have been linked to making a trade for Beckham. It started when multiple Browns players were tweeting hints that general manager John Dorsey and the Browns were close to making a “crazy trade.” It turned out the potential move the players were talking about was a trade for Beckham.

At several points, it seemed like the two sides were close to making a deal. The Browns reportedly offered a trade package including Kevin Zeitler, Emmanuel Ogbah, and another player for Beckham. However, the Giants “laughed” at the Browns offer and the rumors started to die down.

Just hours after the rumors of the two sides working on a deal came up, the two teams made a trade, but it did not include Beckham. The Browns traded one of the players in the reported package for Beckham, Zeitler, to the Giants for defensive end Olivier Vernon.

Since the start of the legal tampering period on Monday, there has been little talk about a Beckham trade. But the rumors started to get stirred up again Tuesday morning. Former NFL executive Michael Lombardi said one team is convinced the Giants will trade Beckham if a team “makes the right offer.”

The Browns are the only team who have been frequently connected to talking to the Giants about Beckham. They have an aggressive general manager who is willing to make big moves and the assets necessary to make a trade for a superstar player.

Despite the Giants saying that they are not trading Beckham, there is a lot of smoke around them saying they will trade the wide receiver. And there is even more smoke saying the Browns are the team trying the hardest to make a deal. So based on Tuesday’s reports and chatter, it would not be surprising if a Beckham trade happens soon.
