By Randy Gurzi
The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including them pulling off a big signing and a trade in the same day
Free agency doesn’t officially start until Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. EST, but the league allows players to negotiate with teams starting the Monday prior. After staying quiet during that first day, the Cleveland Browns came back to life on Tuesday.
The first bit of news that broke was them agreeing to terms with free agent defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins. His addition solidifies their D-line and along with the recent trade for Olivier Vernon gives them four solid starters.
As great as that news was, it was topped by the blockbuster trade that followed. Late on Tuesday night, the Browns landed a receiver they had been targeting for quite some time as they came to terms with the New York Giants on a trade for Odell Beckham, Jr.

Believe It! Browns complete trade for Odell Beckham, Jr.
For nearly a year, there have been rumors about the Browns trading for Odell Beckham, Jr. and it finally happened. Cleveland landed one of the best wideouts in the game in exchange for a first and third round pick, as well as safety Jabril Peppers.
Breshad Perriman re-signs with Cleveland Browns
Before the shocking news about OBJ came in, the Browns signed another receiver as they brought Breshad Perriman back on a one-year deal. However, Perriman reportedly wants out now after learning of the OBJ deal.
"“With the addition of Richardson and the trade for Olivier Vernon (which becomes official on Wednesday), the Browns have formed an impressive defensive front. Richardson and Vernon will combine with Myles Garrett and Larry Ogunjobi to form a young (Vernon and Richardson are the eldest at 28) and active group that can play the run and the pass. In this passing era, defensive backs can only cover for so long. Pressure is important. The Browns now have four defensive linemen who can apply pressure and get after the passer.”"
The move for Richardson was huge, even if it got blanketed by the trade for OBJ. The Browns defensive line is beyond scary now that all four players are top caliber guys.
