The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including the possibility of John Dorsey fielding calls to move up in the draft

After a few days of there being no noise around the Cleveland Browns, there started to be some whispers coming out of Berea. One was the fact that they may finally be looking to add a safety as a replacement to Jabrill Peppers who was sent to the New York Giants in the trade for Odell Beckham, Jr.

Another story was general manager John Dorsey talking about the upcoming plans this offseason. While at the NFL’s annual meeting, Dorsey took some time out to discuss the team’s plans and even hinted that he could be open to trading back into the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

There’s nothing solid that says the Browns will try and do this, but Dorsey didn’t shoot down the idea when asked about it. He’s also known for being willing to make splashy moves, so it’s worth keeping an eye on.

7 things we learned from Browns GM John Dorsey at the NFL Annual Meeting — Nick Shook, ClevelandBrowns.com

"“See this?” Dorsey said as he pulled his phone out of his pocket. “If you’re willing to trade down … I’ll look at everything.”"

There were some interesting nuggets surrounding the Browns GM, but this one stood out. John Dorsey has made a lot of moves, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see him try and get back into the first round — if the price is right that is.

Report: Cleveland Browns have been in contact with Eric Berry, Tre Boston

Dorsey has a connection with Eric Berry from their time together with the Kansas City Chiefs, which makes that connection seem logical. He’s not the only safety Dorsey is looking at though and Dan Justik has the scoop on that.

Browns planning to travel to Indianapolis for joint practices with Colts — Nick Shook, ClevelandBrowns.com

"“The Browns general manager on Monday told reporters his team is planning to travel to Indianapolis to participate in three days of joint practices with the Colts in August. The three days of activities in Indianapolis would culminate with an actual exhibition game between the Browns and Colts in Week 2 of the preseason.”"

The Browns and Colts both have general managers who worked in the Kansas City Chiefs organization. That connection between John Dorsey and Chirs Ballard likely helped these two teams come together. It could be a good test for the Browns as well, considering the Colts were a playoff team last year.

Cleveland Browns should call the 49ers about DL Solomon Thomas

There’s a good chance that the San Francisco 49ers are ready to give up on Solomon Thomas, who hasn’t lived up to his No. 3 overall draft status. Should they be willing to ship him off, the Browns could be a nice landing spot.
