Cleveland Browns: Damarious Randall keeps endearing himself to the Dawg Pound
By Randy Gurzi
Ever since joining the Cleveland Browns last year, Damarious Randall has been all in on being part of the Dawg Pound and continues to show his love as he posed with some Bulldog statues while in London
General manager John Dorsey has made several huge moves since taking over the Cleveland Browns. One of the most underrated deals Dorsey has struck was when he shipped off former starting quarterback DeShone Kizer.
Rather than just getting a late-round pick — which is what most GMs get when trying to trade a player rather than cut them — Dorsey convinced the Green Bay Packers to part with Damarious Randall. Then, the Browns moved the former first-round pick from cornerback (where Green Bay was playing him) to free safety (the position he played at ASU before joining the NFL).
That switch proved to be brilliant as Randall had his best season as a pro. He finished the year with a career-high 85 tackles and tied his high mark of four interceptions.
On top of his great play, the safety has endeared himself to fans. He’s professed his love for being in Cleveland several times and and continually does things that excite the team and fanbase — like when he picked off a pass from Andy Dalton and raced to the sidelines to hand the ball to former head coach Hue Jackson — who had taken a position as a ‘special assistant’ with the Cincinnati Bengals after Cleveland fired him.
Now in the offseason, Randall again showed his excitement for being in the Dawg Pound as he took the time to pose with some bulldog statues while in London on vacation. Randall shared the images on his Twitter account and said the dogs he found “belong in the dawg pound.”
Randall has truly embraced his new city and team. He heads into the 2019 season in search of a new contract as his rookie deal is set to expire following this year.
He’s expressed a desire to stay put and his play suggests he should be offered a long-term contract. Hopefully, he and the team can make that happen because Randall has proven over the past year that he does “definitely belong in the dawg pound.”
