The Cleveland Browns have quickly grown into a power franchise within the NFL. While adding talent through free agency or the draft, the team has also picked up some bandwagon fans. Here’s five Browns facts that ever bandwagoner needs to know.

So, you’ve decided to become a bandwagon fan of the Cleveland Browns. Maybe you’re here to support our brand new wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., or you can’t stop waking up feeling dangerous because of quarterback Baker Mayfield. None the less, welcome to the Dawg Pound.

But now imagine this. You’re at a watch party for the first game of the Browns season, and you need to know your Browns history in order to not be caught as a bandwagoner. Well lucky for you, we’re here to help. So, here are five facts that every Browns bandwagoner needs to know.

1. Art Modell is the worst owner in the history of sports.

More from Dawg Pound Daily

Art Modell is a name that you should never bring up at any Browns event, ever. The former Browns owner moved the franchise to Baltimore in 1995, and in just five years, won a Super Bowl. Modell was owner of the Browns from 1961 until the move, and the amount of hostility that the fan base still holds towards him nearly 23 years later is unprecedented in sports. While he was the last owner to win a championship with the franchise, what he did to Cleveland fans was wrong.

2. It took the Browns 30 guys to find their franchise quarterback.

Since 1999, the Browns have had 30 starting quarterbacks. But mostly importantly, the best one out of the bunch is Baker Mayfield. (Geez it took ya long enough to get here, Bake). Some key names to know out of this group include Tim Couch, Brady Quinn, and Derek Anderson. The last Browns quarterback to lead the team to a winning season was Derek Anderson way back in 2007.

3. The Browns have won eight league championships.

Take pride in it, Browns fans. While the most of us weren’t around for these titles, and they all came long before the days of the Super Bowl, the Browns still have championship hardware. They are the kings of Cleveland when it comes to winning titles, having more than both the Indians and Cavaliers combined. The Browns also have more championships than the Steelers and our franchise’s future seems brighter, but that’s none of our business…

4. Freddie Kitchen’s said it best – “if you don’t wear Brown and Orange, you don’t matter.”

The haters are going to be talking a lot this season, and some already have (here’s to you, Mr. Cowherd). The people’s coach, Freddie Kitchens said it best at his introductory press conference. If these talking heads aren’t with us, they are against us. Don’t let them faze you Browns fans. In fact, let them keep talking so Mayfield has a massive chip on his shoulder heading into this season. After all, that is fuel to the fire that we may need seeing as we currently have 15/1 odds to win the Super Bowl.

5. The Browns once got into the playoffs by only winning 4 games in a season.

This is an oddball fact, but it’ll be one that could be a great conversation starter. Back in 1982, the NFL had a strike shortened season. This led to the team only playing nine games, and achieving a record of 4-5 overall. With this record, the Browns got in as a wildcard team and is only one of four teams to ever make it to the NFL playoffs with a losing record. However, their season ended in a loss to the Raiders in the playoffs, 27-10.

While there are plenty of more facts that can be talked about, these five should be able to get you started. Now get out there and prove your loyal fandom of the past month! Be prepared to bleed brown and orange this season, and when you hear chants of “here we go Brownies, here we go!” you better give a “WOOF! WOOF!” back with all your heart and soul.
