The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including an update on what players are set to visit ahead of the 2019 NFL Draft

As we approach the end of the week, some small bits of Cleveland Browns news has started to leak out. One potential nugget was Odell Beckham, Jr. hinting that the team was set to kick the season off against the New York Jets this year.

Outside of the potential schedule release, there was an update from Mary Kay Cabot regarding which players the Browns will be meeting with ahead of the 2019 NFL Draft. With only 30 slots allotted per team, these lists are usually good indicators of which players a team is seriously considering.

One thing the list from MKC shows is that general manager John Dorsey is serious about adding some help to their defensive side of the ball.

Browns NFL Draft visits tracker: Jeffery Simmons, Dre’Mont Jones and more — Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"“The biggest known name amongst the 30 visits so far has been Mississippi State defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, whom some considered a top five prospect in this draft until he tore his ACL in February and underwent surgery. The Browns will also host local prospects on Friday, including those from Ohio State. The headliner will be defensive tackle Dre’Mont Jones, the Cleveland native and Saint Ignatius grad.”"

Jeffery Simmons is an interesting name because he has first-round talent but could be there at No. 49 due to an ACL tear suffered while training for the Combine. Another big name is Virginia safety Juan Thornhill who had a great career and followed it up with some great workouts at the Scouting Combine.

The improbable story of how little known WR Damon Sheehy-Guiseppi landed a tryout and, ultimately, a contract with the Browns — Nick Shook, ClevelandBrowns.com

"“A little more than a week ago, Damon Sheehy-Guiseppi was sleeping outside. It was just him, his two bags and a patch of grass in Miami, Florida.”"

It took everything he had, but Damon Sheehy-Guiseppi finally got the attention of an NFL team and the former All-American return man could find a role with the Browns who traded away Jabrill Peppers this offseason — who was their primary returner.

Odell Beckham Jr. hints at Cleveland Browns’ Week 1 opponent

OBJ and New York Jets safety Jamal Adams may have spilled the beans on Instagram in regards to the first week of the season. Dan Justik describes how the conversation between the two led to the belief they will face off Week 1.

Betting on the upside of tight end David Njoku: Transforming the Cleveland Browns, Decision No. 17 —  Doug Lesmerises, Cleveland.com

"“John Dorsey challenged Njoku this offseason to improve his run blocking, and that’s an integral part of his development as a well-rounded player. The Browns were asked on draft day 2017 about Njoku’s blocking, and they vowed that Njoku could do it and that he’d be a physical player. But that hasn’t come through on a regular basis.”"

Lesmerises goes over the history of what brought the athletic tight end to the Browns. He then goes into the challenge from Dorsey that hopefully propels Njoku to rise to the next level.
