As of the start of Draft Day 2019, the Cleveland Browns are without a first-round pick. But with rumors of the Browns trading back into the first round, which prospects are worth trading up for on day one?

Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey is known for two strategies during the draft. First and foremost, Dorsey’s talent for finding diamonds in the rough may be unmatched in the whole of the NFL. Just last year, running back Nick Chubb, wide receiver Antonio Callaway, and edge rusher/linebacker Genard Avery were all fantastic finds for the Browns in the draft.

Secondly, Dorsey has become infamous for wheeling and dealing throughout the draft. Whether it be trading up or trading down, Dorsey is always willing to move to get the very best draft position he can. He traded up to secure MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017. He traded up to draft Callaway in the fourth round last season, and there have been multiple rumors that he wants to trade up in this year’s class as well.

Dorsey is a talent scout at heart, and with that comes the tendency to get attached to prospects. As head executive of a three-man brain trust with Eliot Wolf and Alonzo Highsmith, Dorsey has a system of checks and balances behind him, but he still has the final say on whom, and where, the Browns spend their picks.

So, who are the prospects worth trading up for? Theoretically, the Browns could probably make their way to midway through the first round with their draft capital. We’ll try to be realistic; these are five prospects worth coming up for.
