Cleveland Browns 2019 NFL Draft: 6 players still available on Day 3
By Randy Gurzi
After signing Sheldon Richardson, the defensive tackle spot has been solidified in Cleveland — or at least the starting two spots have been. While Richardson and Larry Ogunjobi are both legit starters, the depth behind them has questions. That could lead to the Browns targeting an interior player during Day 3.
Gerald Willis is one of the biggest names out there, but does come with some red flags. Willis began his career at Florida but fights with his teammates led to his transfer. He came into the NCAA with a lot of hype, but then only had one season of production. Even with the concerns, a day three pick would be worth using on him, given his talent.
One player the Browns have shown some interest in is Oli Udoh, the big offensive tackle prospect from Elon. The small-school product has big-time potential and has tools to develop as explained by Lanze Zierlein of NFL.com.
"“Mammoth right tackle prospect with intriguing developmental traits as both a run blocker and in pass protection. Udoh lacks the quickness for move-blocking duties but has power to generate push against opponents in front of him. There are exploitable holes in his pass sets for the NFL, but his size, length and potential for improvement in that phase are worthy of taking a shot on as a Day 3 draft-and-develop prospect that might require a year on the practice squad.” — Zeirlein, NFL.com"
Cleveland has Greg Robinson and Chris Hubbard starting at tackle this season but Robinson is only on contract for 2019. Having players such as Udoh in the wings developing would give them options in 2020 and beyond.
