Special Teams (3):

Austin Seibert, Britton Colquitt, Charley Hughlett

Last season, the Browns started out 0-1-1 but could have just as easily been 2-0 had it not been for errors in the kicking game. The miscues from Zane Gonzalez led to his release and in order to replace him, the front office ended up signing Greg Joseph after holding a tryout with several kickers.

The rookie did well, going 17-of-20, but missed some extra points. Clearly, the team wasn’t sold on him because they spent a fifth-round pick (the one obtained in exchange for Josh Gordon) on Oklahoma’s Austin Seibert. While the new rookie should do a fine job, we all will miss the amazing things Joseph did for the fans, such as sending out a great holiday card with his fellow special teamers.

At least the other two players in this card should be on the roster in 2019. Punter Britton Colquitt averaged more than 45 yards per punt and has been as consistent a weapon as this team has had in years.

His only competition at the moment is Jamie Gillan out of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, who is known as ‘The Scottish Hammer’. He’s an interesting story but is likely on the roster just to keep Colquitt fresh for the regular season.

Charley Hughlett remains as the long snapper, a role he’s had since 2014. He does his job well, which often goes unnoticed. His is a thankless job, but fortunately, he does it extremely well.
