1. Greedy Williams, CB, LSU

Here we have the top candidate to be the No. 1 impactful rookie, and it’s a player who seemed like a bit of a pipe dream before the draft took place. Leading up to the 2019 NFL Draft, there was no one expecting the Cleveland Browns to land Greedy Williams with their first pick — which happened to be in the second round following the Odell Beckham, Jr. trade. Then, the LSU cornerback started to slip and we all started to wonder if he really could fall to the Browns.

General manager John Dorsey was also paying attention to the slide and decided that he wasn’t going to wait. Surrendering one of their three picks in the fifth round, Dorsey moved up to No. 46 and took Williams there. It was a small price to pay in order to land a player many had marked down as the best corner in the class.

Williams heads into this season with a great shot at starting opposite Denzel Ward, which would give them two talented man-press corners. Of course, it won’t be easy because Terrance Mitchell and T.J. Carrie won’t simply roll over and give him the position.

Having said that, the worst-case scenario for Greedy seems to be the third corner position which would mean plenty of time on the field during his first season. Still, a betting man would likely have the rookie winning the job, giving him a shot at being the most impactful rookie on the team this season.
