3. Donald Penn, OT

After head coach Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley were fired, the Browns offense looked immensely better. Quarterback Baker Mayfield received the most attention — and rightfully so — but the offensive line also stepped up their game.

They surrendered just five sacks in the final eight games, but some of that had to do with the scheme the team was running. With that being the case, the offensive line (primarily tackle) was considered a need in the draft but the Browns didn’t add anyone there. They could decide to roll with Greg Robinson and Chris Hubbard, or perhaps they might want to look at another option such as Donald Penn.

Penn made the list of best available free agents released by Connor Orr of the MMQB and said that while there’s some risk involved, there could be some upside as well to landing the 35-year-old.

"“Penn just turned 35, won’t be cheap and won’t play any special teams. He made it through four games last year before getting placed on injured reserve with a groin injury. But he was a productive player not so long ago, recently professed his desire to continue playing, and could be a solid option for teams who whiffed on the offensive line class in this draft.” — Orr, MMQB"

Adding Penn may not be in the plans right now, but should training camp begin and the team not be thrilled with what they see in their two starters, there’s a chance his phone could ring. Should he be able to stay healthy, he would surely be a great starting option.
