2. Jamie Gillan, Punter, Arkansas Pine-Bluff

Nicknamed The Scottish Hammer, Jamie Gillan is going to get more attention than most punters would. While his awesome nickname has a lot to do with that, so too does the insane workout he put together at his pro day, which was commented on by Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.

"“Arkansas-Pine Bluff punter Jamie “The Scottish Hammer” Gillan just jumped 36.5 at pro day. 4.69 40 at 6-1 1/4, 207. 9-8 broad. 23 bench reps. Private workouts start next week” — Pelissero, Via Twitter"

What’s most interesting about Gillan is his inexperience in football. A former rugby player, he came to the United States in 2014, which was his junior year in high school. He took up kicking then and was good enough to get the attention of Arkansas Pine-Bluff.

Once there, he developed each season as he handled all the kicking duties from field goals, to punts, to kickoffs. By his senior campaign, he shook off some early-career struggles and was solid in all facets. He was 20-of-29 on field goals and averaged 42.5 yards per punt while downing the opponent inside the 20-yard line 27 times.

A southpaw kicker, Gillan is going to be a lot of fun to root for, even if it would take a special training camp for him to knock off the veteran Britton Colquitt. He could surprise us all though, especially now that he’s focusing solely on booming punts and not on place kicking.
