Cleveland Browns News: Austin Corbett hungry to compete
By Randy Gurzi
The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including second-year offensive tackle Austin Corbett’s hunger to compete this season
When the Cleveland Browns selected Austin Corbett at No. 33 out of Nevada, there were several eyebrows raised. He played tackle at college and the Browns needed a left tackle after Joe Thomas retired, however, Corbett wasn’t expected to be the answer there.
Instead, he was destined to play guard due to his build, but Cleveland didn’t have a need there with Joel Bitonio and Kevin Zeitler already on the roster. Because of their presence, Corbett sat his entire rookie season which he now says was hard for him due to his hunger to compete.
That hunger could get satisfied this season though, as Corbett now finds himself in line to start at right guard following the trade of Kevin Zeitler for defensive end Olivier Vernon. Corbett discussed his hunger recently, as well as talking about how much it means that the front office believes in his abilities.

It was a little transition for me to understand my role, that I was going to be a ‘look team’ guy, and I had to be ready at any moment for any one of those five to go down. So that hunger definitely built over the course of the year.”"
A lot is going to be expected out of Austin Corbett this season as he fills some mighty big shoes. He’s the favorite to replace Kevin Zeitler, who was a stud at right tackle. His ability to replace him will have quite an impact on the Browns offense this season.
