Cleveland Browns News: Myles Garrett says no thanks to Gerald McCoy
By Randy Gurzi
The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including Myles Garrett saying they don’t need to add defensive tackle Gerald McCoy in free agency
Ever since reports surfaced that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could move on from defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, the Cleveland Browns have been pegged as a potential landing spot. Then after he was released, more stories came out saying they would be “players” for his services.
Those rumors have been fueled by current Cleveland players reaching out to McCoy in an attempt to recruit him to The Land. Odell Beckham, Jr. was one of those players as he tweeted (although it has since been deleted) at McCoy trying to lure him to his team.
However, defensive end Myles Garrett doesn’t think McCoy is needed. In fact, he said they’re fine with what they have and joked that OBJ needs to just worry about the offense.
Clearly, Garrett is thrilled with the teammates he has on the defensive line, which is a great compliment to them.

Myles Garrett: Browns ‘good with what we have’ — Herbie Teope
"“What they decide to do, I’ll be OK with, and I’ll accept it and move on,” Garrett said, “but I think we’re good with what we have. I’m always going to be passionate about the guys we have in the locker room because they’ve always been OK with me, they’ve always done right by me, so I have no problem playing with them, going out there and sweating, bleeding and winning with them.”"
Ultimately, the decision will be up to the Browns front office, but Myles Garrett is ready to roll with the players they have. That speaks highly of how he feels about players such as Larry Ogunjobi and Sheldon Richardson.
Browns’ Denzel Ward told again to work on tackling technique
Denzel Ward plays physically but can be reckless. Dan Justik discusses how his coaches have asked him to work on his tackling technique this offseason as they try and help him avoid some of the injuries he suffered as a rookie.
Odell Beckham Jr. drama wholly overblown — Cody Williams, NFL Spin Zone
"“Looking at some of the reactions to Beckham leaving after the first day of workouts in Berea, you would’ve thought that he outright quit football and left the Browns high and dry. That’s far from the reality of the situation, though. By every indication, this is what the team expected would happen, which head coach Freddie Kitchens and quarterback Baker Mayfield both made clear when asked about it, per Tony Grossi on ESPN.”"
The point made by Williams is perfect. The Browns knew that OBJ wasn’t going to come to OTAs and it’s not like he simply quit football. It’s time to move on from this, but sadly we will keep hearing about it.
3 Browns who were given votes of confidence
Some of the moves made by general manager John Dorsey this offseason have sent a silent vote of confidence to a few of the players on the roster.
