1. Trading for Odell Beckham, Jr. from New York

In his first season as a pro, Baker Mayfield ended up with 3,725 yards passing with 27 touchdowns against 14 picks. Those numbers landed him first overall in Cleveland history for passing yards by a rookie quarterback and first in NFL history for touchdown passes by a rookie.

Even with enough talent to have this strong campaign, the Browns went into the offseason with wide receiver high on their list of needs. There was a lot of speculation that they could target a player early in the draft to become Mayfield’s new No. 1 receiver. Another rumor was that they could make a move for a wideout such as Odell Beckham, Jr. of the New York Giants.

This was a rumor that went back to the 2018 offseason as OBJ was working out with several members of the Browns — including his best friend Jarvis Landry and the aforementioned Mayfield. Then Beckham signed a new deal with the Giants which put an end to the trade talks.

However, things picked back up this offseason and Dorsey ended up breaking New York GM Dave Gettleman down and finding a deal that worked for both sides. In exchange for a first and third-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and strong safety Jabrill Peppers, the Giants gave up OBJ.

Making this move was the best thing Cleveland did this offseason. An already potent passing attack just became even more dangerous as Mayfield has a bonafide superstar out wide to get the ball to.

Even while missing four games this past season, Beckham finished with 77 receptions for 1,052 yards and six touchdowns. He even did this with some inconsistent play under center out of Eli Manning and a lack of talent around him to take attention away.

OBJ should shine in The Land and gives Baker the kind of playmaker to take that next step. This was easily their best move and will have a huge impact from the start.
