Three reasons to be excited about the Cleveland Browns in 2019
By Randy Gurzi
No. 1: The Baker and OBJ connection
The biggest reason for excitement in Cleveland is the addition of a difference maker in the wide receiving corps by the name of Odell Beckham, Jr. and what it means for second-year quarterback Baker Mayfield.
Acquired in a trade with the New York Giants, OBJ gives Mayfield a legitimate No. 1 target. What makes that so scary for opposing teams is that Mayfield was already a dangerous player last season with the collection of wideouts he has which included Jarvis Landry, Antonio Callaway, and Rashard Higgins — plus tight end David Njoku as well.
With those players all returning, the Browns offense is rather stacked and should take the next step thanks to the attention Beckham will command from opposing teams.
As good as they are in the passing game, Cleveland is also loaded at running back. Nick Chubb and Duke Johnson can be a good combination but they become even more dangerous after Kareem Hunt returns to the field following an eight-game suspension.
Suddenly, the Browns have an imposing offense and a head coach who knows how to get the most out of his players. Factor in an improving defense and 2019 is a year that Browns fans should be especially excited for.
