Two Cleveland Browns defensive linemen attended Von Miller’s “pass rush summit,” along with several other NFL defensive linemen.

Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi and linebacker Genard Avery attended Denver Broncos’ Von Miller pass rush summit over the weekend.

Ogunjobi and Avery may be two of the top pass rushers on Cleveland’s roster, but Miller’s summit helped them get tips from several other NFL defensive linemen to potentially improve their game in 2019.

Miller’s summit is designed to get some of the best pass rushers in the NFL on the field together at the same time and give them the chance to learn from each other. Miller brought in DeMarcus Ware and Doug Flutie to help lead the summit – Flutie helped give a quarterback’s perspective of a pass rush.

Both Avery and Ogunjobi have shown plenty of potential as pass rushers in their young NFL careers. The Browns are hoping that the pair along with Myles Garrett, Sheldon Richardson, and Olivier Vernon – and potentially Gerald McCoy – will create a defensive front that makes life miserable for opposing quarterbacks.

In his first season as a full-time starter, Ogunjobi showed an ability to create pressure up the middle. The 25-year-old defensive tackle made 5.5 sacks last season, as well as 10 tackles for loss and 15 quarterback hits.

Ogunjobi made most of his impact during the first half of the season as he dealt with a torn biceps injury for the final weeks of the season. Despite dealing with the injury and being on the field for majority of games, Ogunjobi still put together a strong sophomore season.

Avery was arguably one of the biggest surprises of the Browns defense last season. After being selected in the fifth-round of the 2018 NFL Draft as a linebacker, Avery proved to be one of the Browns’ most productive pass rushers.

The 24-year-old linebacker played in all 16 games last season, making 4.5 sacks, five tackles for loss, and 14 quarterback hits. According to Pro Football Focus, Avery’s 42 pressures last season were the second most on the Browns defense, trailing only Garrett.

With the help of other NFL pass rushers, perhaps Avery and Ogunjobi learned more pass rush moves that will allow them to create more disruption in the backfield. And sharing knowledge with other NFL pass rushers should only help the two young Browns defenders.
