Looking ahead to the 2019 season, we take an in-depth look at the different position groups for the Cleveland Browns. Here is a glance at defensive end

During the 2018 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns reportedly considered North Carolina State defensive end Bradley Chubb at No. 4 overall. However, they went a different route as they landed Ohio State’s Denzel Ward.

The pick can’t be questioned too much as the rookie cornerback did start from the first day and also made the Pro Bowl following a successful campaign. Not only that, but the Browns did have a bigger need at the cornerback position than they did at defensive end at the time.

Already with 2017 No. 1 overall pick, Myles Garrett and the No. 32 overall pick in the 2016 draft, Emmanuel Ogbah, they felt they were in good hands. Apparently, that proved not to be the case, at least when it came to Ogbah.

The former starter didn’t take that next step as a defensive lineman and was traded this offseason to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for Eric Murray. With Cleveland, Murray looks to be a reserve safety and special teams ace. He’s a decent player, but an odd return for a guy they felt so strongly about the year prior.

With all that now being in the rear view mirror, we take a moment to look at the Cleveland defensive end depth chart as they prepare for the 2019 NFL Season. And first up, is the former No. 1 pick, Myles Garrett.
