The Cleveland Browns offense has reportedly faced issues with new offensive coordinator Todd Monken, but Jarvis Landry says that is not the case.

The Cleveland Browns built a strong offensive coaching staff with Todd Monken taking over as the offensive coordinator now that Freddie Kitchens is the head coach.

With Monken and Kitchens, the Browns offense is expected to have a mix of concepts, including combining Monken’s Air Raid passing concepts into Kitchens’ scheme.

However, according to a report from Mike Silver of NFL.com, the offensive transition has “not gone as smoothly as planned.” This has led to Kitchens doing more in offensive meetings, according to Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com.

More from Dawg Pound Daily

"Kitchens has been doing more in offensive meetings the past few weeks, but only because he’s been gathering input from all the assistants and must make decisions on how the scheme will ultimately play out, a source told cleveland.com. – Cabot, Cleveland.com"

The report does not mean that Kitchens and Monken are butting heads, but that the installation of the offense and figuring out the scheme is taking longer than expected. But Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry is not concerned about the recent report. Landry said he didn’t know about the issues with the scheme, but that it is a new offense and the growing pains are expected.

Landry, who emerged as one of the leaders for the Browns last season, also spoke on the other Silver report that Browns veterans were not happy with quarterback Baker Mayfield’s comments about Duke Johnson and his trade request.

According to Silver, the veterans who did not like Mayfield’s comments spoke to the quarterback and “hashed out their differences.” But Landry said Friday that Johnson’s situation is a “non-issue” and the situation with Mayfield’s comments have been overblown – via Cabot.

"“I don’t think it would be difficult at all,’’ Landry said. “I say to you it’s a non-issue, and it’s not one that we are feeling any particular way about. It’s something that is being blown up from [the media] more than it really is. No offense. I didn’t mean it like that.” – Cabot, Cleveland.com"

It seems that the Browns roster is not concerned that Johnson’s situation will affect the team in a negative way. And the issue with Mayfield’s comments may have been about not talking about another player’s contract and business with team to the media.

Landry said there should be no issues between Mayfield and Johnson when the team returns for training camp. And if the locker room settled their differences with Mayfield, then as Landry said, it will be a non-issue. There also should not be any issues with Kitchens and Monken when training camp rolls around.
