Austin Seibert, Kicker

Considering a rookie kicker in fantasy can be a risky proposition because of the struggles of young kickers in the NFL. Even young kickers that are good enough to be drafted still deal with plenty of struggles in the NFL (i.e. Roberto Aguayo and Zane Gonzalez).

However, because of how explosive the Browns offense is expected to be, they will be pushing the ball onto the other team’s side of the field fairly often. And that will create plenty of opportunities for whoever is kicking for the Browns to score points.

The Browns will have a kicking competition during training camp between last year’s kicker Greg Joseph and 2019 fifth-round selection Austin Seibert. But even though he is a rookie, Seibert will likely have the leg up to take the job considering the Browns used a mid-round selection on him.

During his time as the kicker for the University of Oklahoma, Seibert made 63 of his 79 attempts, with a long of 51 yards, and 310 of his 315 extra points. In 2018, Seibert made 17 of 19 field goals, with a long of 42 yards.

The Browns will likely rank towards the top of the league in points, so having the kicker of the offense would make sense. If Seibert can improve with NFL coaching, he could be an intriguing kicker option who could pay off for those who decide to draft him.
