Baker Mayfield entertained Cleveland Browns fans when he passionately played the air drums to Phil Collins’ In the Air Tonight, so naturally, there’s a hype video featuring him and the famous song for us all to to see

Good sweet Dorsey, I’m NFL bored – this particular Cleveland Browns offseason is taking FOREVER.

It’s still 10 painful Sundays until we get to watch Baker Mayfield’s Brownies take on Dwayne’s (or Case’s?) Washington Redskins in the first preseason matchup, and I’m crawling out of my orange and brown skin in anticipation.

And then, just when I thought absolutely NOTHING was happening offseason Browns-wise, some solid fan posted the latest Browns hype video, and this one, like most of them do, brought me to shameless man-tears.

More from Dawg Pound Daily

It’s a visual history of the beloved Cleveland Browns set to the favorite song of Browns’ second-year quarterback and young man who makes the entire city of Cleveland simultaneously smile and flex Baker Mayfield.

If you’ve been following the recent re-birth and rise of Northern Ohio’s NFL franchise, then you know exactly what tune it is.

As Baker would say, “Philly Collins in this #$%&# !!!”

Ever since Baker made the drum solo from Phil Collins’ hit song In the Air Tonight famous (again) last season by live-mic-ing it during warm-ups before the Browns’ first game against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12, the 1980’s classic pop rock lead single from Collins’ debut solo album Face Value has been permanently associated with Mayfield.

So someone cleverly edited it together with some of the most iconic black-and-white Browns footage from the ’40s and ’50s and cut that with more recent in-color Cleveland thrills so that over the course of the first half of the video you get a real Browns’ history lesson.

What a team.

Initially set to the slow roll of the beginning of In the Air Tonight, we learn through quick clips and highlights about the rise of Otto Graham’s and Jim Brown’s Cleveland football franchise to the Brian Sipe and Bernie Kosar years.

This video is educational and fascinating to watch, and as the music builds, we move to the eventual Modell-induced downfall and forward to the post-99 expansion Browns’ struggle.

And then, as the song slowly starts to climax, we smile because we remember there’s about to be a huge drum roll that changes everything.

SPOILER ALERT: Oh yes, indeed, it’s Baker, and he’s pounding invisible drums as the orange lights flare behind him at his most recent photo shoot.

MAN-TEARS ALERT: Okay, I’ll admit it – my eyes spit out a few End-Of-Rocky tears while quick clips of Baker’s Browns actually scoring touchdowns and winning games in 2018 flew by – oh, the joy of no longer being winless!

And then this hype video finally fades to a halt as we slow-mo watch Odell Beckham Jr. haul in a touchdown pass from Mayfield in an OTA drill.

Glorious.

I’m as excited as any Browns fan has ever been and it takes everything I’ve got not to brag about this team that’s yet to play a game in 2019.

But when they do, prepare to hear me (and the entire Land) roar.

Mayfield and Beckham and Landry and Chubb and the gang in this #$%&# now.

Can’t wait to get this drum roll started.
